(1 of 2) * WHAT...Flooding caused by snowmelt is occurring. * WHERE...Porcupine River at Fort Yukon. * WHEN...Until 215 PM AKDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Flooding is occuring in sloughs and other low-lying areas on the east side of Fort Yukon, with flooding expected to develop in Fort Yukon later today or Saturday. Flooding is expected to be similar to what occurred last year with many of the same areas that flooded last year flooding again this weekend. The water level in Fort Yukon will crest over the weekend. Flooding will continue into the middle of next week with the water receding very slowly next week. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 100 PM AKDT, A River observer reported flooding of sloughs, low areas and some low lying roads east of Fort Yukon. The observer reported that the water was rising rapidly and was 6 inches to 1 ft below low section of the runway in Fort Yukon. It is expected that water will start spreading into Fort Yukon later today or Saturday, with the crest Sunday or Monday. - Low lying areas in and around Fort Yukon - Http://www.weather.gov/aprfc (2 of 2) * WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam continues. * WHERE...Yukon River near Emmonak, Alakanuk, Nunam Iqua. * WHEN...Until 345 PM AKDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Flooding as well as large blocks of ice being pushed onshore is possible. Water will remain high until the ice jam releases. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 930 AM AKDT, A trained river spotter reported that an ice jam that formed on Yukon River near Emmonak on Thursday remains in place. The river spotter reported that flooding of low lying areas in Emmonak is occuring, including the road to the airport. No structures are flooded in Emmonak as of Friday morning, but that could change if ice shifts and water levels rise again. Emmonak was reported to be at the same water level as was seen in the 2023 Break Up flood. An observer in Alakanuk reported at 11 AM AKDT Friday that widespread minor flooding was occuring, and that the water had risen 2 feet since Thursday. The road to the airport at Alakanuk was reported to have 4 inches of water over it. Water level at Alakanuk was reported to be 10 inches below the 2023 break up flood. - Flooding is now occuring at Emmonak and Alakanuk, Flooding is expected at Nunam Iqua. Water can rise rapidly. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
